President Muhammadu Buhari's administration has reiterated his commitment that lifting 100million Nigerians out of poverty by 2030 was still attainable. The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Kachollum Daju made this statement on behalf of Mr President while addressing newsmen on Sunday in Abuja. She disclosed that the key players from all sectors of society, including the private sector, and development partners have remained focused on achieving the target. Daju explained that Ministries, Department and Agencies, MDAs, are not left behind from keying into the mandate as they form part of the development partners.

She revealed that her ministry has inaugurated a data bank, named Labour Market Information System (LMIS) that will form the bases for the project.

The said data bank will guide those who are employed and those seeking to secure employment.

In her statement, “The private sector is supposed to play a huge role because we cannot all be dependent on government”, NAN quoted her saying.

“For the Ministry of Labour, we have different agencies and departments that have to do with employment skills.

“Alongside the LMIS, we are also going to improve on job matching, known as the National Electronic Labour Exchange (NELEX),” The statement added.

Daju explained that her Ministry had since created 16 job centres across Nigeria and will establish more centres across all the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.

She revealed that the plan for the expansion of the centres was a deliberate effort to ensure that all the 774 local government areas across the federation are not left out.
