The Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN has called on the Nigerian populace to key into the e-naira revealing that paper money may disappear sooner than they think from circulation. Delta state branch Controller of CBN, Mr. Godwin Okafor, made this statement known today during a sensitization program on e-naira at the Ogbogonogo market in Delta state. Okafor has called on traders to key into the central bank e-naira policy for ease of transaction across the country; saying is the safest way to go.

In his statement, “We are here at the market today to sensitize the market people on the use of e-Naira. It is fully backed by CBN, unlike Bitcoin which has no legal backing.”

According to the consultant of CBN on e-Naira, Dr. Aminu Bizi, Delta state was chosen as the second state to sensitize market women on e-Naira after Lagos state.

Explaining to the marketers, he said “Paper currency will soon be out of circulation because CBN spent money to print money and people abuse the currency in the market, spraying at the occasion, payment of Okada/tricycle and others and CBN is losing”

He enjoined the market people that using e-naira has a lot of benefits as it is the most effective and charges-free unlike the ATM and POS with high-security guarantee free from scammers.

In his contribution, the Secretary to the Delta State Government, SSG Chief Patrick Ukah applauded the CBN for the e-naira initiative and urged his people to grab the opportunity.

Mr. Uka who was represented by, Mr. Benson Ojoko, Director of Finance and account in the SSG office, applauded the CBN program describing e-naira as a laudable program by the financial institution that has placed Nigeria at international finance competence in the global arena.
